Well, what a day!
It was an early start and wake up call for the group. Breakfast was served from 6:30 am with a pick up time of 7:30 am with Grayline Tours for a day exploring the Blue Mountains & Sydney.
Our first stop, approx 1.5 hours towards the Blue Mountains was the quaint & picturesque village of Leura. This little town has one lovely Main Street full of cafés, curio shops, book shops, gift shops & so much more.
From here we arrived at the Blue Mountains & Scenic World at Katoomba at approx. 10:00 am and spent the next three hours experiencing the Scenic Railway, Skyway & Cableway. These rides are not for the faint-hearted or those with a fear of heights or mobility issues. If you do have limited mobility issues, it’s probably best to seek assistance or take a seat at the cafe (Eats 270) with a coffee & cake instead.
After lunch (which is included in your tour price), we left the Blue mountains for the Waradah Aboriginal Centre, about a 15 min drive down the hill in in the leafy suburb of Katoomba. The informative & interpretive traditional cultural experience lasted about 20 minutes. From there we visited Echo Point which had some really advantageous viewing platforms overlooking the Three Sisters.
Our next stop was the Featherdale Wildlife Park, which provides a home to over 1,700 Australian native animals and serves as Australia’s largest native collection.
Our driver Peter was fantastic; he was professional, informative, entertaining, helpful and very accommodating.
Next stop was the Fantasea River Cruise, where we boarded on the Parramatta River and cruised towards Sydney’s Circular Quay & Darling Harbour. We cruised under the Sydney Harbour Bridge with fantastic views and photo opportunities of the Opera House. It was a great & relaxing way to end what was a busy day!
To be continued…
